Primary Program Area Focus: 4-H/Agriculture and Natural Resources
Describe the plans for this internship. (i.e. What specifically will the intern be doing?)
Describe the knowledge / skills that the intern is expected to gain from this experience.
A successful intern in the Giles County Extension Office will gain technical skills in natural resources, forestry, outdoor recreation, and agriculture through work with the Day Camp program.
It is also expected that a successful intern will gain an appreciation for the Extension Service through work with all program areas as needed.
Interns will continue to develop professional skills such as time management, multitasking, community relationships, and problem solving.
Our intern will have hands on programming experience as well as drafting, marketing, and customer service experience.
It is an overarching goal that a successful intern will be well equipped to be a candidate for employment within the VCE system.
How will the intern learn about the breadth of VCE and our various program areas?
Agriculture and Natural Resources and 4-H program areas have plans for the 2013 Day Camp Series and through working with both areas the intern will learn the interconnectedness of programming efforts.
All three program areas, FCS, 4-H, and Agriculture and Natural Resources have made a prominent goal to cross market programs and support each other as programming needs arise.
The intern will be encouraged to participate across all program areas to gain a greater appreciation for their combined impact on the locality.
The intern in the VCE Giles County Unit will interact with all three program areas and be able to explain each program area and their activities as well as support all disciplines through events and programs.
