For whom is the curriculum designed?
The curriculum is designed for the following age groups:
  • Cloverbud -- 5 to 8 year olds
  • Junior -- 9 to 11 year olds
  • Intermediate -- 12 to 13 year olds
  • Senior -- 14 to 19 year olds
  • Leaders -- Adult leaders who guide these youth
4-H project materials are particularly adapted to small group, club activities but can also be successfully used by youth in individual settings with an adult helper.

What is the cost of 4-H Curriculum?
Limited copies of Virginia 4-H publications are free. There is a charge for all National 4-H Curriculum materials. Most Virginia 4-H publications are available in print from your local Virginia Cooperative Extension office with a growing number available on-line.

Is there 4-H curriculum specifically for school teachers?
Although teachers can use any 4-H project materials successfully, Virginia 4-H offers specific school enrichment materials targeted to Virginia's 4th to 6th grade SOLs. School Enrichment Curricula are available in the areas of Electricity, Embryology, Forestry, Horticulture, and Intergenerational Connections. A Citizenship curriculum, including a unit on Jamestown, is being pilot tested in Spring 2003.

Who develops the curriculum?
These resources are produced by Virginia 4-H, the national 4-H Cooperative Curriculum System and other state 4-H programs. The curriculum products are prepared primarily by university faculty and are based on current technical and learning theory research. 4-H literature and learning activities are reviewed and updated regularly.

How can I find out more?
We encourage you to contact your local Virginia Cooperative Extension office for more details. They can inform you of other resources, programs, and events in your area of interest. In addition, they can put you in touch with other adults and youth that share your interests.
