|
Clothing and Textiles includes project sheets that relate to personal appearance, clothing construction, purchase and care of a wardrobe. Project material is divided into four levels that reflect the interests of the 9 - 18 year old. Fashion Revue is
offered as a competition in this area.
FOUR-H PERSONAL APPEARANCE, CLOTHING AND TEXTILES (4-H PACT) is a set of four project manuals which cover the areas of Clothes and People, Grooming, Care of Clothing, Fabrics and Textiles, Buying Clothes, Wardrobe Planning, Citizenship and Community Service, Leadership and Initiative, Sewing for Fun, Developing Construction Skills. Members who enroll choose from any of the subjects to complete the levels. FABRICS AND FASHION - 4-H'ers learn how to select and buy fabrics and clothes, how to develop good grooming habits, how color affects moods and lives, how to care for clothing items and how to make garments using various construction techniques. CONSUMER EDUCATION, FABRICS & FIBERS - This project teaches 4-H members to be wise consumers as they begin shopping for their clothing. They review needs, individual clothing items and kinds of stores, sales, style and quality in this project. TEXTILE SCIENCE, FABRICS/FASION - 4-H members learn about fibers and fabrics and proper care of clothing and laundry techniques.
