Virginia 4-H All-Stars

Recognize your outstanding senior 4-H'ers and volunteers for their accomplishments by nominating them for 4-H All Star membership.
The 4-H All Star nomination procedure is scheduled so that nominees accepted by the Virginia Chapter have the opportunity to indicate whether or not they desire membership prior to the initiation. Nominees MUST participate in the Tapping Ceremony which is usually hold during State 4-H Congress at Virginia Tech to become members. The All Star Bylaws indicate that the 4-H member nominees shall: ...

  1. Have completed at least 3 years of work as a 4-H member.
  2. Be at least 15 years of age as of January 1 of the current year.
  3. Be an active 4-H member and no more than 19 years of age as of January 1 of the current year or, have been an active 4-H member and no more than 19 years of age as of January 1 of the preceding year (Four-H'ers have an additional year of eligibility beyond the age for participating in other 4-H recognition opportunities.)

Each unit, with leadership from the unit All Star agent contact, should carefully supervise the handling of member and leader All Star nominations. As diagrammed on the enclosed pink sheet, steps include:

  1. Prepare needed copies of nominating materials. Please copy these because they have not been printed for distribution. (Only THIS FORM should be used).
  2. Identify all qualified nominees. Use only the "Revised 2007 Virginia 4-H All Stars Nomination Application".  The 2003 version will NOT be accepted. You can also download a copy from the public 4-H web page  http://www.ext.vt.edu/resources/4h/allstars/as-nomination.html   4-H members may use this form to make application.
  3. Involve unit All Stars and Extension Agents in a joint meeting to select those qualified for membership. Be sure to provide complete information. All Stars must concur by vote with three signing the forms.
  4. Complete the Revised 2007 Virginia 4-H All Stars Nomination Application Form for each member nominee and 388-076 (Recommendation for Honorary Members, revised 2003) for each leader nominee and forward completed nominations to your District All Star Contact by December 2.
  5. Detailed evidence for points awarded must appear on the member nomination form. Nominations should show all points earned, not only the minimum required.
  6. Only accepted nominees who have paid their initiation fee and are registered for the ceremony will be initiated. Nominations are only good for the year submitted, but may be re-submitted within the guidelines.
All eligible member nominees will be considered by the Chapter membership. Only two honorary members from each unit and six from each district may be sent to the next level. Units are responsible for accuracy and completeness of nominations with review by the district and state committees.
