An error was made in the 2006 State 4-H Dog Show Packet.  The Fun Agility Jumper class will NOT be included towards the Top Dog Award at the 2006 State 4-H Dog Show.  Please note the change.  We apologize for any confusion.

The 2006 Dog Show is a great opportunity for 4-H members.  It will provide youth who have participated in a dog project an opportunity to compete in a larger show that includes Showmanship, Obedience, Fun Standard & Jumper Agility, Costume, and Poster classes. The theme will be “A Dog Gone Good Time.” The general information packet has been revised and simplified; please review and have your volunteer leaders and parents review for changed content. The completion of a project record book is still required for each participant. Agents are asked to check the project book before it is turned in at the show.  They will be reviewed & returned.

Camping will not be provided this year, however several hotels are available in Chesterfield area that allow pets.  Please call for rates (government rates with Virginia Tech – VCE – 4H) and availability. 

Updated Directions to Chesterfield County Fairgrounds:

From Interstate 95 (points south of Chesterfield County):  From Interstate 95 northbound, take Exit 61-B, which puts you on Route 10 West.  Go straight, crossing the intersection of Route 1/301.  Stay on Route 10 for several miles.  Some landmarks are, in the order you will pass them:  a cemetery on the left; Thomas Dale High School on the right; a shopping center with a Wal-mart on the left; a WAWA store on the right, shopping center with Ukrops on the right.  Just past this you will take a right on Krause Road (there is a Burger King on the left and a historic house, Castlewood, on the right).  Follow Krause Road to the end – the fairgrounds will be on your right at the intersection of Krause Road and Courthouse Road Extended.

From Interstate 95 (points north of Chesterfield County):  Take Interstate 95 south to exit for Route 288 north.  Take Route 288 north to exit for Route 10 (Iron Bridge Road) east.  Proceed east on Route 10.  You will see a large courts building on your left.  Take this left (first stoplight) onto Courthouse Road Extended.  The fairgrounds are at the end of this road on your right – at the intersection of Krause Road and Courthouse Road Extended.

From Route 64 west of Richmond:  Take Route 64 east to Interstate 95 south, then follow directions above.

From Route 64 east of Richmond:  Take Route 64 west to Interstate 95 south, then follow directions above.

From Route 288 in vicinity of Hull Street Road or other points north of Chesterfield:  Take Route 288 to exit for Route 10 east (Iron Bridge Road).  Follow Route 10 east.  You will see a large courts building on your left.  Take this left (first stoplight) onto Courthouse Road Extended.  The fairgrounds are at the end of this road on your right – at the intersection of Krause Road and Courthouse Road Extended.
