Mission Statement

(Developed November 17, 2000)

The Virginia 4-H Fishing FIN-atics subcommittee is an official subcommittee of the 4-H Environmental Education and Natural Resources Curriculum Component Committee. Comprised of paid and volunteer 4-H staff (including 4-H Educational Center staff), with partnerships with local and state agencies/organizations, the committeešs purpose is to:

  • Identify, evaluate, and approve fishing and aquatic ecology curriculum materials for 4-H youth and related training materials for adults working with those youth,
  • Coordinate and implement 4-H fishing training programs for adults working with 4-H youth and the families of 4-H youth,
  • Develop a group of trained 4-H staff and volunteers to provide 4-H Fishing FIN-atics training across Virginia,
  • Provide information to 4-H staff, volunteers, and youth about the Virginia 4-H Fishing FIN-atics program and related activities,
  • Identify and record all Virginia 4-H Fishing FIN-atics programs and related activities, and
  • Manage the Virginia 4-H Fishing web page within the public VCE web page
