Congratulations to all participants in the State 4-H Forestry Judging Contest held May 13 at the Holiday Lake 4-H Center. Youth competed in tree identification, tree measurements, forest insects and diseases, compass and orienteering, and a forestry exam. Teams also had to evaluate and inventory a mature shortleaf pine stand that was valued at $1,584 per acre. The First Place Senior Team from Page County will represent Virginia at the national contest at Jackson's Mill State 4-H Camp in Weston, WV, in August.
