Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program


The Virginia 4-H WHEP Team placed 3rd overall out of 19 states represented at the National Contest held at Vines 4-H Center near Little Rock, AK, August 3-7.

Team members were, left to right, Jenny Mercer, coach; Hanna Shaw, Jill Bourgeois, Lily Damico and Derek Davis. Hanah Shaw is from Nelson County. Everyone else is from August County.

Jill was 8th in aerial photos, 3rd in foods ID, and 5th high individual, overall. Hanah was 10th in Wildlife Management Practices.

The team was the only team to have both the urban and rural management plans place in the top 5 with the rural plan earning 3rd place and the urban plan earning 2nd place.
