However, these numbers only reflect a piece of the story. Rarely does a day go by that I don't receive a note or run into someone who is quick to tell me how 4-H has made a significant positive impact upon his or her life. I believe this is why all of us have chosen this great profession. I am truly grateful for all you do to make things happen.
Finally, it is my sincerest wish that the holiday season brings a time of peace and renewal to you and your family as we move forward into the new millennium of "Making the Best Better".

The purposes of this event include providing an opportunity for older youth to experience a taste of college life, to actually attend a couple of classes with host Collegiate 4-H'ers, to participate in fun and challenging events and activities on a college campus, and to stay with students in dorms. For the past several years, many high school students have greatly benefited from this experience.
All visiting high school participants in Host Weekend will be supervised and assisted by members of the Collegiate 4-H Club of Virginia Tech, and plans are well on the way for an exciting, fun, and challenging weekend here on campus. Be sure to look in your mail for the forthcoming 4-H Host Weekend brochure, which will provide all details of this event. We hope to have a record attendance this coming year.

This sets a new record for us in Virginia, and includes youth from every unit that Extension serves in the Commonwealth. Although the data from other states has not been received to date, we currently have the second highest 4-H camping numbers in the nation. Keep up the good work-thanks for all you do to help youth receive an experience of a lifetime, 4-H camping.
(Bob Meadows)
This event, conducted every three years, originated in Virginia, and is designed to (1) bring the brightest and best ideas on camping to one location, and (2) to showcase Virginia's educational centers. The NCI V Planning Committee has been active in working to host this event for the past two years.
For those new to Extension, the NCI is designed for full-time participants only, and is limited to about 175 adults (salaried and volunteer) from throughout the United States. Much enthusiasm and interest was expressed by individuals from throughout the country at our NCI V Exhibit Booth at the NAE4-HA Conference in Pittsburgh.
