Selection Scenario: Rank the Angus heifers as replacements in a purebred Angus herd. The main objective is production of bulls for the commercial cow-calf industry. Heifers are kept as replacements or sold to other Angus breeders. A few heifers are sold to 4H members for show prospects. Cattle must be trouble-free and easy to keep, since the feeding program for the cowherd is grass pasture and hay without supplementation.

Selection Scenario: These gilts are sired by either Yorkshire or Landrace boars. They will be mated to Chester White boars and replacements will be kept. Rank the gilts as replacements in a commercial farrow to finish operation All pigs not kept for replacement will be sold on a carcass basis with payment based on Fat Free Lean Index. All pigs will be raised in total confinement.
