My name is Mary Elmer and I am 17 years old. I am from Surry where I am a 4-H member. I currently serve as Reporter/Historian. In my 8 years as a 4-H member, I have participated in a broad range of 4-H projects/clubs such as, Livestock, Teen, Youth Master Gardeners, raising market hogs, sewing construction and photography. Not only am I an active 4-H member on the local level, I also have participated in National and International programs through 4-H. I spent the summer of 2005 in Japan as a LABO/4-H exchange student and hosted two Japanese students. As a result of my many projects and leadership opportunities I was tapped in the Virginia 4-H All Stars in 2005. This is my second year on Virginia 4-H State Cabinet. When I first attended State 4-H Congress in 2004 I decided that I wanted to run for a Southeast District Ambassador to have an opportunity to meet many other people from across the State and to develop my leadership skills. One of my main goals as a cabinet member is to unite all the District Teens though a Cabinet MySpace and Facebook account. Furthermore, I hope to encourage teens to attend the State Wide Teen Weekend and other state wide events. If you are interested in learning leadership development, meeting interesting people from across the state, and are hard working run, I strongly encourage you to run for State Cabinet. |
