Virginia 4-H for Kids

What is 4-H? Welcome to the fun place where you can discover cool things while learning about 4-H and a lot more.

4-H is a club for youth ages 5 to 19. It is a club where you "learn by doing."---And there are lot's of things for you to learn and do in the 4-H program.

4-H has a motto: The motto is: "To Make the Best Better."

4-H has a pledge: The pledge is:

I pledge my head to clearer thinking,
My heart to greater loyalty
My hands to larger service
And my health to better living
For my club, my community, my country and my world.

In repeating the pledge, members raise their right hands to their foreheads when they say, "my head to clearer thinking." The lower them to their hearts as they say, "my heart to greater loyalty." At the line, "my hands to larger service," they extend their hands, palms upward. At the last line, they stand at attention with their hands at their sides.

4-H Symbol: The 4-H symbol is a 4-leaf clover with a white H on each leaf. The H's stand for, Head, Heart, Hands and Health.

4-H Colors: the 4-H colors are green and white. The white symbolizes purity. The green, nature's most common color, stands for life, springtime and youth.
