Educational Concepts 4-H Center Scheduling and Registration
Summary of Operations and Programming Impacts Driver Designation and Van Transit Off Center Registration and Management |
![]()
Each Center is responsible for managing the van for off-Center use. It is recommended that Centers release the van for off-Center use at least 25% of the time. However, it is within the Center's authority to determine who will use the van and when it will be released. Non-Center users should follow the same registration process and procedures as the 4-H Center. Four-H Centers should work closely with the 4-H Agents in their service area to plan and schedule the van for off-Center use. Four-H related programming will have priority in scheduling off-Center use. It is recommended that requests for off-Center use be made through the 4-H Agent in the respective county or city. Each 4-H Center should conduct an orientation and training for all prospective off-Center users. The Water Wizard Van Steering Committee will periodically conduct training sessions. However, the Centers are responsible for ensuring that all users are trained in operation of the van and use of its contents. Off-Center users should be familiar with all of the regulations and procedures related to the van's operation. Refer to the Training Agenda section for suggestions on training content. Centers should advertise the van and set the schedule for off-Center use prior to receiving the van. This will facilitate the management of the van, conduct training and allow potential users time to plan their programs.
Individuals interested in using the Water Wizard Van must be trained in the Van's operation and educational component use. Each Center has the responsibility of training interested users. In addition, the 4-H Marine/Aquatic Education Specialists will be conducting periodic training sessions. A training session will be conducted for west-central and Southwestern Virginia in late Spring, 1999. The date and place is to be announced.
